Yellow Bowl Travels to EKU!

We headed to Kentucky in May to attend our oldest grandson Tristan's graduation from high school.  We are so proud of him.  Tristan has studied hard and graduated Summa Cum Laude.  He began classes this week at Eastern Kentucky University with a full scholarship and hopes to get into law enforcement.  He will be living on campus in Burnam Hall, the honors dorm.

Friday Tristan's dad and mom helped him move into his dorm room and Michelle sent me this photo.  

Do you see it?  The yellow bowl!  It seems when getting ready for his move Tristan informed his mom that he was only taking the practical and useful things he felt he would need.  He was packing light.  When they arrived and unpacked, low and behold Michelle spotted the yellow bowl.  "Why did you bring this?" Michelle asked.  "You can't make cookies in your dorm room."

Tristan's answer to his mom, "It reminds me of Mèmére.  I can eat popcorn out of it."

Be still my heart.  Boy did I smile big when Michelle sent me the picture and text.  

The yellow bowl continues to make for blog posts and for precious memories.

Monday Memo: His Name is Bullwinkle

His name is Bullwinkle (of course) and he was sitting on the shelf looking for a new home.  I immediately took his picture and text it to my first born grandson - Tristan - the Kentucky boy.  "Would you like this guy to keep in your room?" I ask him.  

His response came in true Tristan form, "Sure, if it comes full of cookies!"

So we paid the lady and brought the moose home with us.  He didn't sit on the table long till I knew with all his personality that he needed a name.  Bullwinkle came quickly to mind and seems fitting.

Bullwinkle will have to wait on the shelf in the closet till we make a trip to Kentucky by car since I would never trust him to those burly men who throw the suitcases on the planes.

Now what kind of cookies do you think I should fill him with when we do drive to Kentucky?  Chocolate Chip would be my guess.

Good Advice

My first-born grandson, Tristan knows his Mémère so well.  He knew it would bring a smile to my face first thing this morning to wake up to a text from him quoting Eeyore.

The quote you ask?  Well, it is very good advice indeed.  Tristan quoted Eeyore from the Winnie The Pooh Movie:

"A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference!"

Thanks Tristan for making my day with Eeyore and especially making me smile knowing that you do know your Mémère well.

My advice to Tristan, myself and anyone reading today: 

"let's take Eeyore's advice to heart".

Fun In The Calif. Sun!

We brought the 2 oldest TLC's Trent (8) and Tyler (5) with us on our vacation/family reunion this year.  We are having a great time but may need a little R&R afterwards : )

 

 

 

Was Goldilocks Here?

I went in today to straighten up the Green Room after my grandchildren spent some time with us.  I had to smile so big when I noticed the welcoming words of Scrabble tiles.  It is supposed to say, "Please make yourself at home."  Today it said, "Tyler".  Yes, 5 year old Tyler TLC#2 left his mark in the bedroom and left me with no doubt as to who had slept in this bed(room).  Tyler started kindergarten this year and he has really blossomed because of it.  He loves school and even though I did not know if the school would possibly be ready for Tyler he has proven me wrong and is quite the model student. 

 

 

 

All the pieces put back into order awaiting another visit from Goldilocks Tyler.
