Like Pooh Bear - No Long Words Here Either

Trent, Tyler and Taralyn with Mémère at Disneyland June 7, 2010

Getting ready to sit and read Lessons From the Hundred-Acre Wood with Trent.  I love Pooh Bear in all his fluffyness.  Thought for today I would leave you with some quotes from the little yellow childhood bear of many of us.

Quotes from Pooh Bear

It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?"

Some people care too much, I think it's called love.

When having a smackerel of something with a friend, don't eat so much that you get stuck in the doorway trying to get out.

When late morning rolls around and you're feeling a bit out of sorts, don't worry; you're probably just a little eleven o'clockish.

You can't stay in your corner of the forest, waiting for others to come to you; you have to go to them sometimes.

I am a Bear of Very Little Brain, and long words Bother me.

"I don't see much sense in that," said Rabbit. "No," said Pooh humbly, "there isn't. But there was going to be when I began it. It's just that something happened to it along the way."

Before beginning a Hunt, it is wise to ask someone what you are looking for before you begin looking for it.

Did you ever stop to think, and forget to start again?

Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering.

Grandson Fun

Yesterday I headed over to our youngest daughter Danielle's home picking up a pizza on the way for lunch.  Had fun loving on all four grandchildren before the three youngest went down for nap time.  TLC #1, Trent, the oldest who will be 7 in September came home with me.

We stopped at Walmart and got a new Leggo to put together.  It is just amazing to watch a little boy take a bag with a zillion little pieces of plastic and come up so quickly with an object that will then give him hours of fun ahead.

Today what would normally be a quiet and tiddy loft is a little boys kingdom all strewn with various toys and where he definitely is the center of his mémère's attention.

I love having the opportunity to have one on one time with my grandkids.  Next week I am helping with our vacation bible school all week and then the next week I hope to bring TLC #2, Tyler home with me for more one on one fun time.

Tempt Your Tummy Tuesday - Coleslaw

True story: For 2 years before we married Precious Husband ate and seemingly liked my coleslaw when I served it. The boys and I love coleslaw so I served it often during those 2 years of dating. Low and behold the first time I served my favorite summer salad after we were married Precious Husband leans over and tells me he really doesn't like coleslaw.  Well, for goodness sakes - why didn't the man tell me so.  Guess when you are courting you put your best foot forward and that may mean eating something you really don't care for.

So now I make coleslaw only when we are having guests so I have someone to help me eat it : )  The following recipe is wonderful and I always get rave reviews when I serve it - at least from everybody other than Precious Husband.  The recipe is similar to the Kentucky Colonel's and also to what they serve at Famous Dave's BBQ.  Yummy!

Creamy Tangy Coleslaw
1 good size head of green cabbage chopped finely
1/4 cup grated carrot
2 cups Miracle Whip
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish sauce
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon white pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon celery seeds

I use my food processor and grate the cabbage and carrots.  Mix all together and allow to chill well before serving.  Yields 6-8 servings.

Head over and visit Lisa at http://www.blessedwithgrace.net to see lots more yummy recipes to try.

*4:30 PM Just edited this to add and correct horseradish and mustard.  Sorry.

More Rocks

Several months ago I posted about my rock collection (here).  Today, I added a new rock inscribed "walk".

I know my walk with the Lord is not what it should be and this is what I have meditated on today and studied.  I am thankful for the Holy Spirit's prodding in this area.

May I share some good verses with you on the word "walk"?  This list is not complete by far just some that spoke to my heart today.

Deuteronomy 5:33 NIV
Walk in all the way that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.

Deuteronomy 10:12 NIV
[Fear the LORD] And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

Psalms 15:2 NIV
He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

Psalms 84:11 NIV
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.

Psalms 86:11 NIV
Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.

Psalms 89:15 NIV
Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD.

Psalms 101:2 NIV
I will be careful to lead a blameless life-- when will you come to me? I will walk in my house with blameless heart.

Psalms 119:1 NIV
Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD.

Psalms 119:45 NIV
I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.

Psalms 128:1 NIV
Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in his ways.

Proverbs 2:7 NIV
He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,

Isaiah 40:31 NIV
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Jeremiah 7:23 NIV
but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you.

Micah 6:8 NIV
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

1 John 1:6 NIV
If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.

1 John 1:7 NIV
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

1 John 2:6 NIV
Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

2 John 1:6 NIV
And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight,  O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalms 19:14 NIV
