127 Yard Sale!

Last weekend Precious Husband and I along with good friends, Nancy and Darrel here in Kentucky took off bright and early (6 AM!) to attend our first World's Largest Yard Sale - 127 Yard Sale.  This was something I have read about for years and have wanted to do.  It was interesting and fun.  You can't image all the things you come across as you venture down Highway 127.  We were gone all day and didn't get too far but we sure had fun.

My purchase for the day was an eight place setting of Homer Laughlin Eggshell Georgian china.

Those that know our situation know this is the last thing I needed to buy but hey, I just could not resist!  I love it, I know their value and worst case scenario I can resell them after I have played with all their beauty for a while!

Isn't it pretty?  I also got the covered vegetable casserole.

Another treat was seeing a field of goats.  So cute and so nosey.  Quite photogenic I think.

I didn't buy anything at the man's yard sale but I enjoyed the goats.

First Signs

Spotted my first fall leaf.  Smiles, smiles, smiles!  I love fall!

I am watching 3 Buckeye trees waiting for the nuts to fall off the trees and onto the ground. A challenge to find them in the grass and weeds but waiting to gather up the round brown nuts with the special shine.  Very soon I will carry a sack on my walks to gather the buckeyes as they fall.  As always it is the little things that make me smile.

The old timers here in Kentucky say it will be an early winter.  Some say a severe winter.  For the third year we will watch the sky and listen to the weather man.  First sign of the "funny white stuff" and we are heading the bus westward ho says Precious Husband.

Living Life in Kentucky

We arrived in Kentucky the afternoon before my birthday.  Five days of driving.  Stopping only to sleep and then drive on.  We  have decided next time things will be a little different.

Source unknown

My anxiety level was not nearly as severe as it was last year and so Precious Husband allowed me to try my hand at driving The Beast.  Originally we named our 40 foot motorhome The Great Adventure Bus at the suggestion of our grandson Trent.  Then reality struck and the bus became The Beast.  I mean really - she is BIG, intimidating, and at times has a mind of her own over powering our plans and causing detours and delays.  The Beast fits.

Learning to drive the bus has helped make friends.  I understand a little better how she works and what I can expect.  I am hoping now we can go back to calling her The Great Adventure Bus.  Don't you agree it has such a better sound to it?

My birthday was shared with my 10 year old granddaughter, Ava Dorothy on Saturday.  We both love potato soup so Michelle made a big pot of it - oh, was it ever good.  Ava enjoyed the cake and ice-cream as much as I did.

I am still enjoying the flowers from Dallas, Michelle and the grandkids.  So cheerful!

I spotted this little guy today.  He is a little hard to see here but he is quite cute and I will enjoy watching him scamper up the tree every day.

Hopefully tomorrow Precious Husband will put up my bird feeder and my hummingbird feeder.

So thankful to God for his watch and care over us as we travelled the 1800 miles to get here.

Friday Funnies

Yesterday I was sitting in my rocking chair on the patio.  It was a beautiful day in Kentucky and I was deep in thought as I read an article on the internet.

All of a sudden I felt a bump at the back of my chair.  My first thought, "That is more than the breeze."  I turned to the side and my second thought, "That's the biggest healthiest cat I have ever seen!"  It was just a split second because I quickly realized it was not a cat.

The video is big time shaky because I was jumping up on my chair and up on the table.

The rest of the event won't be shared because it did not have a happy ending and this is Friday Funnies.

Thankful Thursday

Stop, Look and Listen!

Please stop and take less than a minute to let me share my blessing!  The days are just beautiful in Kentucky right now.  The colors are changing in the trees daily.  The sounds you hear when you listen are simply amazing.  An orchestra would be hard pressed to attempt to duplicate the sound of the birds.

Take less than a moment and share my blessing and then take time, make time if need be to get into God's Word and be truly blessed.  Stop, look and listen to what God has to say to you today.

He says, "Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."
Psalm 46:10

Trip To The Pumpkin Patch

Big brother came home from college for the weekend so we all went to the pumpkin patch in search of the perfect pumpkins today.  I think I would caption this photo, "How about this one?"

Photo Friday

The campground where we are parked in Shelbyville, KY

Morning Glories along the roadside.  Precious Husband must have drove around the block (so to say) 6 times for me to be able to jump out and get my picture.  There's a lot of traffic on this country road.

The trees are simply becoming gorgeous!

I guess the farm girl comes out in me quite often because I can never resist snapping a picture of cows.

Photo Friday

Shepshewana, Indiana
Don't you love that name? So fun to say! Shepshewana.

The Amish in their horse and buggy.

Took this picture in a restaurant in Shipshewana where they have squeeze bottles of peanut butter on each table.  Peanut butter?  Must be an Amish thing?

On one of my walks in Decatur, Indiana

Our view at Whispering Hills RV park in Georgetown, Kentucky

The houses in Georgetown are so picturesque!  I always wonder about who is inside.  What is the story this house tells?

Wonder how old this rock fence is?

These horses are pasturing right up the road from us.

And don't these cattle look content.

Out on my walk in search of the camel farm.

I was carrying flowers in my hand and these little guys came running.  "No fellas they aren't carrots, just flowers, sorry."

Kentucky is a beautiful state and makes for gorgeous pictures!
