Tempt My Tummy Tuesday - Corn on the Cob

My niece recently shared a Face Book link about cooking your fresh corn on the cob in milk and brown sugar.  Well, I tried it and it is really good.  Sweet and delish with nothing added at the table.

Corn On The Cob

Milk Boiled Corn on the Cob

Ingredients
    •    6-8 ears of corn, husks and silk removed
    •    water
    •    1 1/4 cup milk
    •    1/3 cup brown sugar
    •    1/4 cup butter
Instructions
    1.    Fill a large stock pot with enough water to cover the corn (about half full).
    2.    Add other ingredients to pot (milk, brown sugar, butter) and boil water.
    3.    Add corn and cook for 7-8 minutes until just tender.
    4.    Remove corn using long tongs.

Monday Memo: His Name is Bullwinkle

His name is Bullwinkle (of course) and he was sitting on the shelf looking for a new home.  I immediately took his picture and text it to my first born grandson - Tristan - the Kentucky boy.  "Would you like this guy to keep in your room?" I ask him.  

His response came in true Tristan form, "Sure, if it comes full of cookies!"

So we paid the lady and brought the moose home with us.  He didn't sit on the table long till I knew with all his personality that he needed a name.  Bullwinkle came quickly to mind and seems fitting.

Bullwinkle will have to wait on the shelf in the closet till we make a trip to Kentucky by car since I would never trust him to those burly men who throw the suitcases on the planes.

Now what kind of cookies do you think I should fill him with when we do drive to Kentucky?  Chocolate Chip would be my guess.

Teacup Thursday - Found It!

 

Last week I shared about how my Shelley teacup collection began.  I told you about the misc. pieces I had found so low priced in Kentucky that I could not resist the purchase.  I already have a Shelley Blue Rock teacup and saucer but hey, you can't walk away from a great deal.

 

This is the lone saucer that needed a mate.

 

Well, yesterday I stopped at a favorite antique shop while I was enroute to my grandchildren's home.  There it sat on the shelf - a Shelley cup all by herself looking for love.

 

Now two singles have become one sweet pair.  

This little pretty is going into the hope chest 

of one of my precious grand-daughters.

Teacup Thursday - A Birthday Mug

Today's mug story is all about Precious Husband and his love for me.  I am married to an amazing man and I hope and pray he sees that amazement in my eyes everyday.  


This mug, this very large mug was purchased at Duckie's last year on my birthday.  You see for the last 4 years we Precious Husband has made a special point to take me to Duckie's for clam chowder on my birthday.  He loves that it has become a tradition and he does all he can to make sure it happens each year now.  I love the coast and I really love clam chowder : ) and Precious Husband loves to make me happy.


So last year Precious Husband purchased this mug full of coffee of course so I would have a special souvenir.  This year he told the waitress they should put the year on the mugs then they would sell more : )


Yep, this mug is a good one and this Precious Husband of mine is a good one too.
