July 2017 in Pictures

We don't have internet at our campground so my good intentions of blogging more have been short lived.  We are celebrating our granddaughter's 17th birthday tonight so I am taking advantage of the access to the internet now that dinner and ice-cream birthday cake have been devoured.

Thought I would upload some pictures from our first month in Kentucky.

The sunsets are always beautiful.

Blackberries picked along my walking path.

I take pictures now of things I want to remember.  The ole memory seems to be slipping and sliding anymore.  Yikes.

Thought this was such a cute quote.

Had to get pictures of the buffalo on our way to pick hedge apples.

On the same trip this young deer struck a pose and patiently waited for me to take her picture.

Of course I have hit several of the peddler's malls since I have been in Kentucky.  My favorite thing to do and Precious Husband loves it too (or so he says).

Can you see the butterfly?

And here is Daisy Grace meeting Shyla, our daughter Michelle's English Mastiff.  Shyla has been more than understanding to this little ball of white fur that is smaller than her head.  She seems to understand Daisy is "special".

More beautiful nature captured on my walks.

My house still sits vacant.  I think she really wants to become a bed and breakfast that I would name Delightful Once Again.  Would you spend a few nights here and enjoy waking up to fresh hot coffee and Yogurt Pancakes or Cinnamon Muffins?

Precious Husband and I helped our friend Nancy (seen below) clean and freshen up her neighbor's yard at Guist Creek.  The next morning Miss Nancy and I sat on her patio and enjoyed the view of the creek and drank our coffee.  So relaxing.  This crane stopped by for a photo shoot to my delight.

Just this week Nancy took us to Joe Huber's Farm and Winery where we had lunch and posed for a silly picture before indulging in ice-cream.  Precious Husband took home a couple of bricks of their cheese.

The grounds were so lovely and inviting.

I had never seen an apple orchard or realized how narly an apple tree is.

This mama possum was caught in a trap that was set for raccoons in the campground.  When the trap was checked the first time our friend Darrel only saw the possum but when he returned she had several babies nursing.  Being the kind man he is Darrel opened the trap but mama possum does not want to leave.  Hmmm.

So true:
The best things in life
are the people we love,
the places we've been,
and the memories we make along the way.

It has been a great July 2017 in Kentucky.

The Oldies but Goodies Gang (plus extras)
Doug and Anna, Tom and Carol, Rex and Sherry, Paul and I
Friends for over 36 years
(Anna in the middle)

You Took The Time

You took the time to stop and chat
As you passed by today
To jest a bit in pure delight
Before you went your way.

You took the time to lend a hand
When I was faced with care
To give the strength of fellowship
To comfort and to share.

You took the time for words of praise
That warmed me through and through
You took the time to be a friend
So patient, kind and true.

I received the call this morning that no one wants to get.  Our precious friend Anna went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early this morning.

Anna leaves an amazing testimony to all that knew her.  She truly was the fragrance of Christ.  She left such an impression on my life as to how to live right up to the end.

As our friend Sherry said this morning, "Our oldies but goodies dinners will not be the same next winter without her."

I will always hear Anna's laugh in my head and know in my heart she is dancing and singing tonight with Jesus.  I am blessed to be a friend of Anna's.

Hold your loved ones close and never take love and friendship for granted.

Coffee, Tea and Me

Would you believe that I have made the switch from coffee to tea.  I can hardly believe it myself actually.  Coffee has always been my go to in the morning.  Didn't think I could start my day without my hot cup of caffeine.  Then that hot mug of morning gold started losing its pizzazz.  Just didn't taste as good anymore.

So yes, I made the switch to hot tea.  You know what?  I am really enjoying my morning tea.  I am actually quite amazed at the transformation of my morning ritual.    Are you shocked?  If you know me well you probably are.

At Walmart I found this cute little wall hanging sign with the painted clothes pins.  Perfect.  I have several potted herbs that I carry in the motor home and arrange at our front door when we arrive at our various stops.  The clothe pins hold cuttings from my traveling garden and dry my herbs perfectly for my tea.  Black breakfast tea in the morning and herb tea as the day progresses.  Apple mint, lemon balm and chocolate mint are my favorites and I just added a pot of lavender to the garden.

This tea party loving gal can feel a little more legitimate now that she really enjoys tea and has put the percolator away - at least for now.

Love & Hugs,
Mèmére

❀ Thankful for hot tea and herbs grown fresh to make my own.

Changing Tuesdays

No more Tempt My Tummy Tuesday for a while at least.  The Langlois' are trying to change their eating habits so I am thinking better quit posting all those tempting cookie and candy recipes.  First tip for weight loss - quit scoping out the dreamy recipes online.

So Tempt My Tummy Tuesday will now become Traveling Tuesdays, as in get on the bus and see where we are going.

Left Mesa, AZ this morning a little after 8 AM and landed in Albaqerqe in time for supper.  Zapped some leftovers and then Daisy Grace and I went out and walked around the RV Park.  Our second time to stay here and I took pictures but they haven't come across from my phone to computer yet.

I did find a few from last visit.  Love all the vintage cars and RV's grouped at the front of the park.

We are headed to Kentucky to spend the summer with our 4 grandkids and their parents too of course.

Really looking forward to time with this little charmer.  Tanner Paul is 4 1/2 now and this picture was actually taken late last summer with his best friend, Shyla.

So come on by and see what's happening on Mèmére's Great Adventure Bus (as one of our grandchildren named it).  Will try to keep our travels and adventures updated on Tuesday.  I will let you know if my change on Tuesday makes any change in the waistline.

& Hugs,
Mèmére

Daisy

Her name is Daisy.  Daisy Grace.  Last week she celebrated her 1/2 birthday - 6 months old June 6.  In my last post I promised as Paul Harvey would say to tell you the rest of the story so let's begin.

Several months ago I began wanting to get another dog.  Dutchess our yellow lab has been gone quite a while and I missed the companionship that is unique to having a dog in the home.  So the search began.  Of course I wanted the perfect dog.  She had to be the cutest dog in town.  She had to be the smartest dog in the campground.  She wouldn't shed a hair.  Easy to house train if not already done.  Get the picture.  The perfect dog!  Oh, and did I say this new dog shouldn't require a bank loan. At the top of my wish list was a mini golden doodle.

Precious Husband was reluctant to add to our family.  He loves dogs but after all we are now living the life of nomads on the open road in a 40 foot motorhome.  But, Precious Husband loves me.  Probably a week before finding Daisy Precious Husband added a quick brief p.s. to our breakfast prayer, " and Lord, please find Dorothy her dog."  Oh, I was excited now.  Precious Husband was on board with my desire for a dog.

We were doing some yard work at our home in Maricopa (which we sure hope to sell next fall) when I heard the sound of PUPPIES!  What's that I ask Precious Husband.  "Puppie"s he said, "over the fence behind us."   "PUPPIES? Why didn't you tell me?"

Quick as I could I was up peering over the fence.

A knock on the neighbors door and wall-la, I am holding this little white ball of fur - just a little handful, no more.  When I set her down she turned in circles to the right.  Observant husband of mine has his caution antennas up. Not me - I am in puppy love.

Because the new pups had not been to the vet yet Precious Husband asked if we could give the owner a down payment and have her checked out before deciding for sure.  Precious Husband is concerned - not me I am in puppy love.

The vet believes our little Daisy Grace has neurological damage.  She is for all intent and purpose deaf and blind.  She hears a tiny bit but doesn't understand where the sound comes from.  She has again, just a tiny bit of sight in her right eye and that is why she turns to the right.

Are you getting a little glimpse of how Daisy got her middle name?

Grace :
Webster says grace is the infinite love, mercy, favor, and goodwill shown to humankind by God.

Daisy Grace will need God's grace everyday.  As for me I am needing God's grace every moment dealing with this little pup with the special needs of blindness and deafness.  It is hard.  My patience is often worn thin I quickly admit to you.  But! God's grace!  God gave us a perfect puppy.  He does not make mistakes.  He will daily give me grace to love and care for his creation.

Grace Is . . .
A tender word • peace surpassing understanding •
the warmth of God’s favor • calm within the storm •
rainbows • quiet moments • a lingering hug
• unconditional acceptance
•  giving and receiving love
• heart to heart forgiveness
• the rustle of angel’s wings • an afternoon nap
• unexpected blessings • the kindness of a friend
• a stranger’s smile • a cup of tea and a prayer
• belonging to God • finding promises in the Word
• an inner knowing • the arms of Jesus open wide.
